News Coverage of the PS4

PS4PS4 Jailbreak 7.02 is now a reality, but various things (like Mira) still need ported to 7.02
When we seen the PS4 6.72 Jailbreak go live from theflow0 's disclosure of a kernel exploit, we knew from reading his reasearch that his findings could work upto 7.02 OFW, but 6.72 OFW became the candidate because the kxploit needed an entry point as well. Thanks to Fire30's previous webkit exploit release to the public, 6.72 then having the complete puzzle that was the natural progression from the previous 5.05 Jailbreak.
Now we have seen developer sleirsgoevy release the needed webkit exploit for 7.02, so now we have the complete puzzle to begin the porting and jailbreaking of the console. Mira and various other things will need to be ported before this new PlayStation 4 Jailbreak is useful but that is the easy work compared to what has been released and is available to us, with a bit of time and patients from the community it appears that 7.02 OFW is the next PS4 jailbreak. This is not a huge jump from 6.72 but should allow for a few more games to be playable on a jailbroken and give user's a few more options when seeking a console to jailbreak. Hackers and developer's are moving up the ladder, but there is still work to be done on 7.02 before its time to consider an update and leave a more polished jailbreak, then for one that is still a work in progress.
Now the developer is trying to get Mira ported & working on the new jailbreak, there has been some progress.. After the dev discovered an issue he accidentally introduced, he was able to get Mira working on 7.02,...

PS VITA / PS TV[UPDATE 2] Super Mario 64 Ported to Vita, PSP, PS2, PS3 and PS4!
Yes, you read right... Super Mario 64 has been ported to the Vita, PSP, PS2, PS3 and PS4 (not to be confused with emulated)! You will need to build your own copy of the game using your own legitimately obtained N64 Rom. Do NOT ask for links or pre-complied copies on this site, or you will be banned. And definitely do NOT link to any pre-complied copies!

Super Mario 64
is arguably one of the greatest video games of all time, and certainly one of the most significant releases of it's time. Personally, I remember having my parents drop me off at Toys 'R' Us for hours at a time, just so that I could sample a little of this incredible 3D platformer on the demo-kiosk before it was officially released to the public. I will never forget when Babbage's called me three days prior to the release of the Nintendo 64, and said I could come pick up my console and copy of Super Mario 64 that day. I spent countless hours mastering the controls, obtaining all 120 stars, and just enjoying the beautifully created worlds.
PS4PS4HEN v2.1.3 (fork by Joonie) - 6.72 Jailbreak / Homebrew Enabler + Additional Features for 6.72
Developer @Jooniewhom many known from various PS3 projects like Rebug CFW , his HybridFirmWare discovery and also known in the Switch community has released a need for the PS4 with the payload of ps4hen.. As Joonie provides us with a fork of PS4HEN v2.1.3 that provide 6.72 firmware support for the popular HEN choice in previous exploited ps4 firmwares such as 5.05.
@Joonieconfirmed working features on 6.72 included with this Jailbreak and Homebrew Enabler consist of the following: Debug settings, Remote PKG installer, UART Enabler, Debug Settings,VR Support,Remote Package Install,Rest Mode Support,FW Version Spoof to 7.51,Debug Trophies Support,UART Enabler and Remote Play Enabler
PS4Latest PS4 Jailbreaks Developments - Now convert games up to 6.72 to be playable on 5.05 FW
The PS4 has been heating up latelythanks to the bounty that developer TheFlow was able to win and also has allowed for disclosure of his discovered bug. The discovered bug allows for a kernel exploit for firmware upto 7.02 (patched in 7.50), However this needs a public webkit (entry point) which are usually easier to obtain then a kernel exploit itself, so we should eventually see one arise for 7.02 but in the meantime developer Fire30 has already released a 6.72 webkit entry point several months ago. So this is why 6.72 is being talked about more then 7.02 as the next step to 5.05 we already have all the pieces its just putting together the puzzle and connecting them all together.
There is a 6.72 Jailbreak (by sleirsgoevy) out in the wild, we have not covered it much due to the fact in its debut state and even in the current state (after some commit updates) its quite buggy / unstable and looks to be rushed to release therefore lacking some testing prior to the exploit going public. The developer did warn it may take upto 10 attempts but some4 user have not got to work at all or had many more attempts some had less . Just is not the best thing for an exploit debut as its not something to blindly install or if your just getting into PS4 jailbreaking to use on your console. (if interested here is the gihub page but be warned its quite buggy in current state and advised to stay on 5.05 at this time). Hopefully it improves in time as it seems work is being done but since its advised to stay on 5.05 still at this time We have. some new guides and information that have been released pertaining how to backport (downgrade) your games firmware requirement to be playable on 5.05 until we see a stable 6.72 jailbreak, if your games require a higher firmware (up to 6.72) then developer @flatz (released Scripts) and then developer@zecoxao (tutorial) has perhaps provided a solution that works for you as the devs provide a wayto play your content on 5.05 that otherwise could not boot, so you do not need to update yet (until a stable jailbreak arises) and can still play your newer games you purchased.. In time we should see some automated tools (update see link): to make this an easier task for noobs who may not be comfortable with this method quite yet.

PS4[UPDATE] PS2-FPKG (v0.3) & PSX-FPKG (0.2) - New tools to convert PS1 or PS2 games for PS4
Our good friend and developer @kozarovv has recently shared with us two projects from developerJabu . Recently we seen the first tool and that was PS2-FPKG and that is a tool that converts your PS2 games easily for use on the PS4 (jailbroken) system, now with that tool residing at version 0.3 the tool is becoming a popular choice fast. Some of the features and support include converting PS2 ISO/BIN files. The tool comes equipped with some customization like changing the Game Icon, Backgrounds, Multi-disc creation and also several other customization that include emulator choice custom Configs and more can be seen in the details of this tool in the first tab below:

To follow that release up there is a tool called PSX-FPKGand this one is to convert PS1 games for use on a jailbroken PS4 (Currently only 6.72 is supportedwith the only 6.72 exploit is one that very buggy and not recommenced at this time as its very unstable and seems not to be tested well or properly debugged before release to the public -UPDATE: Now 5.05 is supported as well!) . This tool is only at v0.1 but has some great features out of the gate as outlined in the 2nd tab, see all details in the tabs below for each tool
PS4PS1 Emulation gets native support on PS4! Thanks to the findings by @Vitt0x_Lar_YT
Emulation on todays Sony Home Consoles wasn't always a easy task compared with the older days such for the PS3 for instance. In fact, it seems that Sony isn't interested anymore nowadays to make the PS4 a 'fully' Backwards Compatible Console. PlayStation 3 Game Titles can be only 'emulated' via their PlayStation Now-Service - where you already now those Games doesn't get emulated at all - and while the PS3 had many 'PS2 Classics' available at their PSN Store, the PS4 share a few of them as well, but sadly only about >50 Game Titles and the last one added was also already over two years ago. But luckily we have the great Homebrew Community doing the job what Sony failed to do. We saw already in the past that speaking of 'PS2 Emulation', the PS4 can handle them pretty well unlike Sony claims (over >500 Game Titles are fully 'playable' right now) and we even saw some 'more unsual' methods of emulating PS3 Games with the PS4 by running the famous RPCS3 on a Linux Distribution with a PS4. But '1' Home Console was actually missing. Thanks to the newest Exploits and Jailbreaks for the PS4 on System Firmware 6.72, Developer @Vitt0xLar_YT was able to find a native PS1 Emulator within the PS4 Remaster 'MediEvil' and he was successfully able to dump all the necessary Files the Community and you need to - similar to PS2 Emulation - create your own PS1 Fake PKGs (FPKG) with your own old PS1 Game Titles. So you can enjoy your old and nostalgic classics again even on your PS4 now! And yes, even the original Boot Screen is included. Nostalgiaaaaaa :P
PS4(Update) A New PS4 Kernel Exploit (7.02) Released by TheFl0w (PS4 6.72 Jailbreak next canidate)
The PlayStation 4 Hacking/Homebrew Scene has been a unique journey in comparison to other PlayStation platforms even those in the firmware era (psp/vita/ps3). The PS4 itself has been a bit unique, while development has always been there it has came at a slower pace and for a limited audience on back dated firmware releases. We have seen several exploited firmware on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) we started the show off with 1.76 and then through a few exploits we eventually climbed the ladder and moved onto 5.05 firmware and currently that has been the latest firmware exploited when the console has aged to 7.5x era . So a new exploit is in the desire list for many.
Recently (back in March) well known developertheflow0most notably for his work recently in the PS Vita scene. His works included various exploits and also some great homebrew projects like VitaShell. So when the developer decided to turned his attention to the PS4 (see our coverage here) and announced that he had a 6.20 kernel exploit and advised the public not to update your PS4 console's firmware past 6.20, it excited many, At the time many would have updated already (v7.x), its did become a much bigger window then the current 5.05 and upgrades existing exploited console's with a new exploit. So this was eager news for many waiting patiently and sadly also fuel for the twitter trolls out there in social media land.
Then, several weeks ago you may of heard of a new bug bounty program for PlayStation (via https://hackerone.com/playstation). When this program was announced just recently there was alot of opinions shared and various disagreements in...
PS4RetroArch (PS4) R4 Released - 21 New Cores Added (PPSSPP/MAME 2015) + New Dynarec Support (Flycast)

Playstation 4 Update Download Free

Scene Homebrew developer @OsirisXhas released RetroArch (PS4) R4, since the R3 release we have seen a number of changes and improvements to the multi-system emulator that is still considered an unofficial port. While there there has been alot of cores converted to the recently released Open SDK (OOSDK) due to the Open SDK still being new and in the early phases something's like libc++ support for instants is missing support and thus preventing some libretro cores from being converted to the Open SDK currently (More then likely when everything is converted we will see this port actually become officially adopted by the libretro team). This release is built on v1.8.8 (of RetroArch) and the update also includes some new libretro core's for the PS4 (gameOS) and those include PPSSPP (PSP), MAME 2015 (Arcade), Beetle Saturn (Sega Saturn), VitaQuake 2 (Rinnegatamante's Vita Port) , Opera (3d0) and various other retro console from the past as seen in the listing of new cores included.
This release also include some new features as well, the complete list of new inclusions can be seen in the details provided in the R4 release notes below. Some of the highlights are dynarec support for the Flycast (Dreamcast), Also Mupen64 Plus & Parallel64 (Nintendo 64) have increased performance with support of
PS4Developer @TheoryWrong talks about 'OrbisSWU' - An interesting approach for Downgrading your PS4 ???

Playstation 4 Update 4.50 Download Iso

Remember back in the old days when instead of installing an Kernel/Web-Exploit like nowadays, you asked 'how I can install an Custom Firmware (CFW)' or something like 'how I can Downgrade my Console'? Of course, todays attempts aren't that bad since you get a similar functionality in terms of running Homebrew for instance, but not quite for 100% compared to the old days. Especially not when we talk about the possibilities of modifying a PlayStation 3 compared to the PlayStation 4 today. In fact, there was a time where everyone wanted to 'Downgrade' his/her PS3 from an higher System Firmware (OFW) to bring the functionality of Homebrew back to their PS3. Or can you remember when your Blu-ray Drive wasn't working anymore due to its age or because of an failed Downgrade process so everytime when you wanted to install a newer, higher CFW, it failed with displaying an error message and you had to install those 'noBD' CFWs? While the latter one was already achieved for older Firmwares below <4.75 in the past, it will be still interesting to achieve both a Downgrading possibility and a 'noBD' support for higher Firmwares on a PS4 as well. The good thing is, well-known Developer @TheoryWrong asked the same question to himself. And it gets even better; he is ready to show his progress so far So lets have a look at it.
